• 1 cup grated coconut 2 peppercorns 1 dry red chilly or ½ teaspoon dry red chilly powder 1 small piece of tamarind 1 onion chopped finely Salt to taste

This is a very simple and basic coconut curry popular in the coastal state of Goa which is rich with may coconut plantations. It also contains a good amount of chopped onions & this combination gives it a very typical texture that is special to Kuval.

Generally vegetable fodi crispies and kissmore are a great combination with this.

 

METHOD:

  1. Grind to a paste with ¼ cup water the coconut, peppercorns, red chilly powder and tamarind.
  2. Add salt to the curry.
  3. Add finely chopped onion.
  4. The Kuval curry is ready to be served with steamed rice.

 

Optional: This is a mild recipe. Those who prefer stronger & spicier flavour can add an extra chilly and and extra pepper corn.
